      Offshore Land Connections

      The government is planning to quadruple renewable energy through offshore wind by 2030. This means wind farms will need to generate 50GWh that will all need to be connected to the grid via coastal land across the country.

      We help coastal landowners negotiate rights and compensation with the offshore wind operators who need to cross their land to connect their seabed generators to the national grid.

      With a statutory process that can take years many offshore wind operators want to de-risk their wind farms by directly agreeing rights from landowners. They need a corridor of land that will take them from the sea to a connection point with the national grid.

      Offshore wind farms will need to build a substation and lay substantial cabling along a land corridor to connect into the existing grid network. We know how disruptive this can be to day-to-day land management, so we’ll make sure the project is delivered in a considerate manner with payment for rights sought and full compensation for any disturbance.

      Whether through servitude rights in Scotland or wayleaves in England and Wales, we understand the complex negotiation process inside out. And through our expertise in the renewable energy sector and understanding of the values involved we’ll get the best possible deal for the landowner.
