Our client wished to better connect habitats across their estate, enhancing the nature network and in turn significantly increasing the diversity of species.
Following a review of the Estate’s rural land, 70 hectares of predominantly arable land was identified as optimal for the establishment of a BNG scheme. A nature-led approach was proposed for nature recovery with minimal human intervention.
Bidwells’ Natural Capital team applied their niche expertise in the natural capital marketplace to advise on the optimal delivery mechanism for establishing a BNG scheme here, along with guiding the development of the requisite contractual structures to secure the scheme and trade biodiversity units.

Our input to date has ensured that BNG will form a significant part of land management here. We have since been retained to develop an Estate-wide Environmental Strategy that will have a joined-up approach to enhancing environmental outcomes.
