Permission for 4,000 new Attleborough homes secured by Bidwells' Norwich Planning team
Bidwells’ Norwich planning team is celebrating a long-term success after planners gave the green light to 4,000 homes on the outskirts of Attleborough in Norfolk. Breckland Council unanimously resolved to approve outline permission for the 217 hectare (536 acres) site on behalf of Ptarmigan Land.

The scheme includes:
- Up to 4,000 dwellings
- A local centre
- Two neighbourhood centres
- Two primary schools
- Green infrastructure and playing fields and other amenity areas
The plans will also deliver a footbridge over the Leys Lane level crossing, a new Linear Park running through the development and a link road from London Road to Old Buckenham Road.
Bidwells’ planning team has worked since 2009 to promote and secure an allocation within the Council’s Local Plan and have been undertaking extensive engagement since 2010 with the community and key stakeholders to prepare an application - which was submitted in July 2017 (amended in June 2018).
Attleborough has been earmarked for growth over the coming decades as part of Breckland's draft Local Plan. The housing will be delivered over 25 years with further detailed planning applications to be submitted in stages.
