Alex is a Rural Chartered Surveyor, Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers and RICS Registered Valuer involved in estate management, rural professional work, valuations and agency.

Alex joined Bidwells as a graduate in 2012 and is now a professional member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) and an RICS Registered Valuer. He was runner-up in the national RICS Young Surveyor of the Year competition in 2014.

He undertakes a wide variety of rural property work for clients including private individuals, Local Authorities, institutions and charities.

Alex specialises in strategic estate management, including for a mixed agricultural and residential investment portfolio of over 230 properties spanning Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and into the surrounding counties. Since 2012, Alex has provided strategic advice to this client regarding the rationalisation of their portfolio. This has led to the sale of a number of properties over the past three years and reinvestment into properties that are more suited to their longerterm objectives (both agricultural and residential property).

Alex also advises clients on a range of professional matters, including agricultural and residential tenancies, rent reviews and planning matters.

He is also involved in a number of agency deals on behalf of clients, including buying, selling and letting farms, bare land, woodland, equestrian and residential properties. He has recently agreed the sale of a farmyard and 20 acres in Hertfordshire with potential for residential development in excess of the guide, as well as agreeing the purchase of 20 acres in Bedfordshire for a private client.

As an RICS Registered Valuer, Alex undertakes and assists with valuations of rural property, including farms, bare land and equestrian property, for a range of purposes including taxation and secured lending.

  • Achieving permission for the conversion of a modern agricultural building near Cheshunt to two residential units under Permitted Development Rights.
  •  Assisting a client in preparing an overall strategy to secure the long-term future of a farm in Hertfordshire.
  • Negotiating the surrender of an Agricultural Holdings Act company tenancy.
  • Advising on leasehold extension and collective enfranchisement claims.
