Senior Forestry Consultant

Tom is a Senior Forestry Consultant who joined Bidwells in 2018 from the Welsh public forestry sector.

Having graduated from the University of Aberdeen with honours in forestry, he went on to complete his PhD in timber engineering from Edinburgh Napier University. Tom then spent the next five years with the Welsh forestry sector (Natural Resources Wales, formerly Forestry Commission Wales) before making the move back to his native Scotland.

Tom is partly responsible for management and advice for a portfolio of forestry investment clients. His focus is on woodland creation and one-off forestry advice, including valuations and surveys and he is jointly responsible for the strategic management of over 40,000 ha of forestry and delivering various professional consultancy and agency work.

Previous experience in having the ultimate responsibility for the safe delivery of a programme of works based on yearly targets means Tom is suited to making decisions regarding risk management solutions. As such, he plans and actively manages various harvesting contracts and programmes, including infrastructure delivery.
