Susanna joined Bidwells in 2011 and is an Associate Rural Surveyor in the Perth office.  Susanna qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2013 during her 5 years in the Fort William office. 

Susanna is involved in private estate management and professional work in Perthshire and Angus as well as significant areas of the South West Highlands and Argyll.

Her experience includes the management of over 100,000 acres of rural Scotland including residential properties, employees, environmental designations, hydro development, agricultural leases, filming agreements and various lease negotiations including telecommunications leases.

A keen interest in the evolving policy affecting rural Scotland means Susanna is well placed to advise progressive rural businesses, taking into consideration the many changes they face. She is experienced in carrying out rural business reviews covering traditional agricultural practices to diversification projects of hydro schemes and hotels.

She has in-depth experience of the Basic Payment Scheme and strategic planning associated with this; she is also very familiar with SRDP payment claims and completion of IACS Single Application Forms.

Susanna is a RICS Registered Valuer and experienced in carrying out rural estate valuations, as well as having involvement in transactions of such properties.

She is also involved in deer management and is the Secretary of the Black Mount Deer Management Group.

Recent projects

  • Shooting Rates - carrying out appeals and advising clients on the reintroduction of commercial rates for shootings and deer forests. Member of Sporting Rates Advisors Forum.
  • Management and redevelopment of the historic Kings House Hotel, Glencoe - acting as leading liaison with architects and designers on behalf of clients, in addition to strategic business planning of the business in the pre-development stages.
  • Basic Payment Scheme Advice - advising clients on eligibility and policy regarding the Basic Payment Scheme and CAP issues.
  • Deer Management - co-ordinating and writing the Deer Management Plan for the Black Mount Deer Management Group as part of the evolving requirements of the deer sector in Scotland. 
  • Film Contracts - negotiating location agreements on behalf of Landowning clients where high-profile films and TV series are shot on their ground.
  • Compulsory Purchase - acting for a significant portion of the landowners affected by the A9 dualling in the Perth to Birnam sections.
