With a passion for people, he enjoys building a rapport with clients and listening to their needs. Matt initially pursued a career within accounting, but soon realised that he needed a role where he could engage with people more. This led him to carrying out an MSc in real estate to pursue a career as a commercial surveyor which he found to be a very people-oriented industry.
Matt's accountancy background gives him a keen attention to detail, which is crucial when preparing marketing particulars and drafting heads of terms for prospective occupiers. He understands the importance of being meticulous with square footage and other details, as even a small error can skew the numbers. Matt appreciates the variety in his role and is keen to learn more about agency processes. He is beginning to familiarise himself with property viewings, shortlisting interested parties and negotiating lease terms with the prospective tenant.
Negotiation will be an important aspect of Matt's work, as he will be responsible for drawing up heads of terms and agreeing on lease terms with prospective occupiers. He takes ownership of his work and feels proud to have a hand in the success of local independent businesses, by helping them to secure their perfect retail space.
