Bidwells is delighted to have won the Sustainability Initiative of the Year at the 2025 Estates Gazette Awards, recognising the firm’s measurable progress and leadership on the journey to net zero.

The award celebrates organisations driving meaningful change across the built environment, and Bidwells was recognised for embedding sustainability into every part of its culture, operations and client delivery, aligned with their B Corp certification.

Bidwells’ submission showcased the strength of their sustainability strategy, shaped by “Our Promise” – a firmwide pledge to embed sustainable thinking across all decision-making. The judges recognised the company’s significant achievements to date, including a substantial reduction in operational carbon emissions through actions such as the installation of solar panels at their Cambridge headquarters and selecting new offices in Oxford that also benefit from onsite renewable energy.

The firm also demonstrated the scale of its influence in driving environmental progress, with renewable energy and natural capital projects now generating gigawatts of clean power and delivering major biodiversity gains across the UK.

The submission further showcased the depth of Bidwells’ social value work, from its expanded Community Investment Fund and growing volunteering programme to innovative partnerships supporting young people and underserved communities.

Celebrating excellence and innovation within the real estate sector, the Estates Gazette Awards shine a spotlight on those shaping a more responsible and resilient future. This accolade underscores Bidwells’ commitment to leading the transition to a more sustainable built environment.

Helen Newman, Executive Director, Group Sustainability at Bidwells, said:

“Sustainability underpins how we think, how we advise, and how we deliver for our clients and local communities. This recognition reinforces the importance of the journey we are on and motivates us to keep pushing for even greater impact across the built environment."
