One hundred days on from the publication of the new NPPF in August, a significant body of appeal evidence is now available, offering an early indication of how inspectors are interpreting and applying the revised policies.

The session will draw on all appeal decisions for residential schemes of more than 10 units on greenfield sites, analysing them by policy and issue to identify emerging trends, consistent interpretations and notable outliers.

Topics will include how inspectors are assessing whether a site is physically well-related to an existing settlement, the application of the 800m proximity to rail stations requirement, the treatment of unmet need, and which new national development management policies are most frequently resulting in refusal.

Our planning and legal speakers will consider the practical implications for developers and land promoters, including the opportunities the new Framework presents for site identification and application strategy, and the risks to be managed for schemes already progressing through the planning process.
