BeSafe On-Site Charter

At Bidwells, the safety and wellbeing of our people, clients and everyone on our sites is paramount. This charter defines the standards and behaviours that ensure we all go home safe, every day.

Building a safer, supportive, high‑performing culture

OUR COMMITMENT

At Bidwells, the safety and wellbeing of our people, clients and everyone on our sites is paramount. This charter defines the standards and behaviours that ensure we all go home safe, every day.

At the heart of BeSafe are four key pillars:

A Strong Team is a Safe Team

Lead by example and make zero harm a reality.

That starts with understanding our responsibilities, speaking up when something doesn’t feel right, and following the processes in place to reduce risk. Leadership here means being proactive, accountable, and leading by example, no matter your role. Leading teams and projects by creating a culture of care and concern for our own and others health, safety and wellbeing during our work activities.

Prevention is Power

If you think something looks unsafe, speak up.

That means reporting all incidents, accidents and near misses as soon as they happen, and helping to investigate what could have gone wrong - not just what did. It also means sharing good practice and positive observations so we can learn from what works as well as what doesn’t.

Better Conversations Mean Safer Teams

Collaborate to stay safe.

From colleagues to contractors to clients, we create a safer environment when we build strong relationships, give and receive honest feedback, and share ideas that improve how we work. Open conversations, shared learning, and collaborative thinking are at the heart of continuous improvement.

Use the Processes that keep you safe. Ask if in doubt.

Keep it simple, keep it safe.

That means having clear, practical and where possible simplified systems in place that people can understand, and challenging complexity when it gets in the way. We embrace tools and processes that support safer, smarter ways of working, and encourage innovation that helps people stay safe without slowing them down.

BeSafe On‑Site - What We Focus On

  • We prioritise health and safety
  • Prevent through design and challenge the status quo
  • We lead through empowerment

OUR PRINCIPLES (HOW WE WORK, EVERY DAY)

We Take Responsibility: Everyone has the authority to stop unsafe work; we challenge unsafe conditions and support each other.

We Prepare Properly: Arrive with the right PPE, equipment and training; check risks and controls before starting.

We Communicate Clearly: Speak up early; report hazards, incidents and near misses; share lessons learned.

We Follow Agreed Standards: Comply with law, industry and Bidwells requirements; follow inductions, permits and safe systems - no shortcuts.

  1. We Respect Our Environment: Keep sites tidy and organised; consider visitors, clients and neighbours.

OUR LEADERSHIP PROMISE

  • Lead by example and champion a strong safety culture
  • Provide resources, training and support for safe working
  • Engage with onsite teams to understand challenges and drive improvements
  • Take action when standards fall short - safety is non‑negotiable
