Q&A with Ian Gatiss, Head of Investment and Property Management
Previously known as Fund Management, the team have renamed themselves Investment and Property Management. Heading up the team, Partner, Ian Gatiss, has answered a series of questions to explain why they’ve chosen to change their name.
Why the change from ‘Fund Management’ to ‘Investment and Property Management’?
We have renamed our team to provide more transparency around the services the team can provide to investors because our old name no longer reflected the range and breadth of our service offer or the changed environment of our current and target client base.
What services does the team provide?
Our services are split into two key service lines, reflected in our new name. Investment Management, providing strategic and investment advice for endowments and portfolios, and Property Management, providing the support that an endowment or portfolio requires to continue to run smoothly.
Here are some of the services we provide to our clients:

Our team has grown dramatically over the last 10 years and has doubled in size from just 27 to more than 60 in just 5 years. Our team’s growth has allowed us to focus people’s talents so that investment and asset managers can drive value and property managers can deliver the stated aims. The extra resource has also helped us to continue to provide a robust and compliant range of services to our clients. Our low staff turnover means that we provide a dedicated service to our clients and build strong relationships so we can best understand how to support and enhance our client’s assets.
Will your name change affect the work you do with your existing clients?
Our change of name makes it easier for our existing clients to understand the work we do and how we can help them with their investment portfolios.
Our name’s new focus recognises the increasing importance of strategic advice and property management as separate specialist undertakings. As an owner
or investor, having the confidence that their portfolio is performing to its full potential is of paramount importance.
The team should take away the ‘noise’ and manage properties and endowments proactively. We work hard to understand the long-term investment objectives of our clients which is pivotal to delivering success, especially where realising the value of an asset in 25 years is not unusual.
Whether clients are looking to optimise the income generated for the benefit of their long-term funding, or to improve the use of their operational assets, we can help to create the vision and deliver on the ground. We are here to guide investors and funds, whether they have 2 or 200 properties.
