Final piece of Brookgate’s CB1 masterplan secures planning consent

With Bidwells’ guidance, Brookgate initially submitted their planning applications in 2018. Now approved, not only will the development supply sought-after office space, but the bustling station will be provided with a variety of new amenities including a 141-room aparthotel, cafes and restaurants, and a 201-space multi-storey commuter car park for Network Rail.

The new buildings will complete the northern quarter of the CB1 masterplan and will be located on part of the existing station car park, between Carter Bridge and Great Northern Road. The estate is home to high quality office accommodation, new homes, student living, hotels and shops, cafés and restaurants.

Bidwell’s planning team worked closely with Brookgate to refine the building and streetscape of the final segment of the CB1 estate in line with the comments made on refusal at an earlier planning committee last year. Now, the aparthotel block will sit further away from Carter Bridge and Devonshire Road. The office building has also been set back to increase the space for pedestrian, cycle and vehicle movements.
