Bidwells is today launching its 2019 Golden Triangle Bike Ride, which will see riders take on the challenge of a new 180km course, while enjoying the picturesque scenery from Oxford to Cambridge via Milton Keynes – all in aid of cancer support charity Maggie’s.

Sponsored by CoelSDCRedrow and Vectos – and with property magazine EG as its media partner – the ride is a nod to Bidwells' rich history and heritage, with one kilometre for each of the 180 years Bidwells has been in business.

The Golden Triangle Bike Ride started in 2015 and has since become a permanent fixture in the property industry's calendar. Building on the success of last year's event, which raised £21,000 for Maggie’s, the 2019 ride will be even bigger and better in the hope of smashing last year's fundraising total to help Maggie's continue to provide free practical, emotional and social support to people living with cancer.

To celebrate Bidwells 180th year, its 500+ employees have been set the challenge of each raising £180 for Maggie’s, with more than 75 staff from its CambridgeOxford and Milton Keynes offices opting to take on the 180km challenge. There is also a slightly tamer 80km course, which begins in Milton Keynes and ends in Cambridge.

Patrick McMahon, Bidwells’ senior partner, said: “What better way to celebrate our 180th birthday than with a bike ride in the most beautiful countryside with our colleagues, partners and friends? Our anniversary year is all about celebrating 180 years of innovation, so we’ve refreshed the course and set our riders another big challenge. We’re sure they’ll be up to it!!

“Maggie’s is again our chosen charity because we’ve seen what wonderful work they do and how our support last year made a real difference to their work. We hope many of our friends can again take part this year, but we also look forward to welcoming some newcomers to the party. It looks set to be another great event.”

Donations raised from the Golden Triangle Bike Ride will help to provide vital funding for the 19 Maggie's centres in the UK, which are located in specialist NHS cancer hospitals, as well as online support and its overseas centres.

In a further bid to raise funds for the charity, there will be a prestige raffle on the day, with prizes donated by CH&Co. CDW, PinkstersThe Tamburlaine HotelThe Chestnut GroupMunroThe Jockey Club and Zeus Events.
