The Council have completed their Final Draft Local Plan (Regulation 19) consultation. This ‘soundness’ consultation represents the final stage before the Council submits the Local Plan for Examination (expected to take place in June 2019), with Adoption of the Plan expected at the end of the year.
The Final Draft Local Plan representation period ran from 14th January to 25th February 2019.
Forest Heath & St Edmundsbury
On the 1st April 2019, Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury will merge and be replaced by West Suffolk Council. Once merged, the existing adopted Local Plans for St Edmundsbury, and Emerging Local Plans for Forest Heath will continue to apply, until a new Local Plan for West Suffolk is adopted (scheduled for 2023). A ‘Call for Sites’ exercise ran from Wednesday 21st November to Thursday 20th December 2018 and provided the opportunity to submit details of sites that may be suitable for development. It is envisaged that the Regulation 18 Consultation (Issues and Options/Preferred Approach), will commence in November 2019.
Ipswich Borough Council are currently consulting on their Core Strategy and Policies Development Plan Document Review Preferred Options, and the Site Allocations and Policies (incorporating IP-One Action Plan), Development Plan Document Review Preferred Options. Representations can be made on any of the sections, chapters or sites included within the documents. The consultation runs from Wednesday 16th January to 11:45pm to Wednesday 13th March 2019.
In addition, Ipswich Borough Council are also consulting on two supplementary planning documents, including the Ipswich Town Centre and Waterfront Public Realm Strategy and the Ipswich Urban Characterisation Study. Both consultations run from Wednesday 16th January to 27th February 2019.
Babergh & Mid-Suffolk
Babergh District and Mid Suffolk District Council’s Joint Local Plan Issues and Options Consultation (Regulation 18) closed on 10th November 2017. The Regulation 18 Draft Local Plan (Preferred Options) consultation is currently scheduled to take place in June/July 2019.
Waveney’s Local Plan was found as sound in early March and is scheduled for adoption on 20th March 2019.
