The Local Plan for Cambridge was adopted on 18 October 2018 and covers the period until 2031. The council is now preparing a joint Local Plan with South Cambridgeshire District Council.
The situation is the same as for Cambridge City as the two councils are preparing a joint Local Plan.
Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire District has become one shared planning service under the banner of Greater Cambridge. The councils are now preparing a joint Local Plan. The Call for Sites for the joint Local Plan took place between February and March 2019. Draft papers for the Regulation 18 Issues and Options Consultation have been released into the Committee process to seek formal approval for the consultation period to run from 25 November to 3 February 2020. The examination is expected in 2022 with adoption of the Joint Local Plan in Autumn in 2023.
The Fenland Local Plan was adopted on 8 May 2014 and covers the period from 2011-2031. The Issues and Options consultation is expected to take place between October and November 2019 subject to approval at the council’s cabinet meeting on 18 September. Examination is expected between June and December 2021 with adoption of the Local Plan in February 2022.
On 15 May 2019, Huntingdonshire’s Local Plan to 2036 was adopted and the plan is not expected to be subject to an early review.
The Peterborough Local Plan to 2036 was adopted on 24 July 2019 and is not expected to be subject to an early review.
Following the withdrawal of the emerging Local Plan on 21 February 2019, the adopted Local Plan remains the East Cambridgeshire Local Plan 2015. The council will be embarking on the preparation of a new Local Plan and a decision regarding the timetable for the preparation of the Local Plan is expected to be made at the council’s cabinet meeting in October 2019.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Non-Statutory Spatial Plan
The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Non-Statutory Spatial Plan Part 2 is due to be approved for consultation by the combined authority at its board meeting in September 2019. The Plan is expected to be completed by the end of 2019 and will set out the strategic objectives for the region. However, as a non-statutory document, there is no requirement for formal consultation and will not carry the status of a Development Plan Document.
