Tom has been with Bidwells for 18 months and works with a range of clients across London and the South East.
Tom completed an MSc in Spatial Planning and Development at the University of Reading, having achieved a Distinction grade in his dissertation. During his time studying Tom was awarded the RTPI future Planners Bursary, which was presented by the RTPI South East and the University of Reading.
Tom now has 18 months consultancy experience, working on a range of mixed-use. residential and commercial schemes throughout Greater London and the South East.
Tom is responsible for the day to day management of projects, which includes leading project meetings, liaison with local authorities officers, stakeholders and the design team, and also continues to assist colleagues on a wide range of schemes. Tom has experience advising clients at a variety of stages of the planning process ranging from initial feasibility appraisals, to planning applications and appeals.
Tom Is currently working towards completing his APC and becoming chartered with the RTPI.
Tom assisted on and coordinated the submission of an appeal at Longdene House. Tom maintained correspondence with PINS throughout the process and was in attendance at the public inquiry. The appeal was successful and secured permission for 29 units in the AONB.
Snap Fitness, UK
Tom provides ongoing advice to Snap Fitness, a mid-market 24hour gym operator. He has successfully secured permission for a number of sites across the country, including sites in London, Salisbury, Hereford and Morecambe.
40 Beak Street, Soho
Tom continues to assist and provide advice through the construction phase of 40 Beak Street. He has advised on the discharge of conditions and a number of successful non- and minor-material amendment applications, and providing advice on the detailed design process.
7 The Lane, Westminster
Tom coordinated a number of planning successful applications at a residential property located in St. Johns Wood, including extensions and basement excavation, a certificate for proposed lawful development and for demolition behind a retained façade in a St John’s Wood Conservation Area.
274 Portobello Road, RBKC
Tom assisted on securing consent for a mixed use extension on Portobello Road. Permission was granted for a residential reconfiguration and extension, with flexible commercial floorspace at ground floor level and the preservation of a Banksy on the side elevation.
Easy Hotel, Reading
Tom assisted with the preparation and coordination of a scheme to extend an existing hotel to create a 53-bedroom Easy Hotel in Reading’s Central Area. Tom assisted with amendments to the application post submission and was in attendance at committee where members resolved to grant permission.
72 Christchurch Avenue, Brent
Tom assisted with securing permission to demolish and redevelop a large residential building in Brent, which included large extensions and basement excavation. Tom coordinated the application and liaised with design team throughout and continues to advise post determination.
Sturt Farm and Longdene House, Haslemere
Tom assisted with the submission of a series of planning applications at Sturt Farm and Longdene. Tom assisted with the preparation of detailed planning statements and reviewed external documents submitted in support of the applications.
Lower Marsh Lane, Kingston
Tom assisted with the preparation of an Expert Witness Statement providing detailed research into Kingston's and the Governments planning policy in respect of Green Belts, and providing advice regarding the planning application and appeal process.
