Rod joined Bidwells in 2016 and is a senior rural surveyor in the Inverness Office. He is a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) with over 11 years’ experience of working in the Highlands & Islands, Moray and Aberdeenshire.
Rod has a wealth of experience in estate management having managed a range of sporting and mixed estates throughout the Highlands. He has a specific interest in sporting and farm management having grown up working on friends' farms and local sporting estates. His personal interest in sporting activities continues with his involvement in a small hands-on shooting syndicate.
Rod is an RICS Registered Valuer, experienced in undertaking valuations of rural property throughout the north of Scotland. He has experience in valuing large sporting and mixed estates as well as small land holdings and renewable energy schemes. He also has experience of valuing arable and mixed farming enterprises throughout the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire. This has included valuations of prime arable land/units and specialised enterprises such as commercial pig units.
Rod is also involved in acting for both landowners and tenants in relation to compulsory purchase and wayleave/servitude requests, from utility companies and public bodies for overhead and underground power cables, and road improvement schemes - providing advice in respect of strategy and negotiating the claims. His knowledge and understanding of construction processes enables him to guide clients through projects/compensation claims
