Matt loves knowing the designs he is involved with will influence the generations of the future. His work is making a difference to clients’ projects and delivering a lasting improvement to quality of life.

The Oxfordshire building landscape needs both preserving and ensuring it is fit for future use. With over 20 years’ experience in heritage and conservation, Matt has an ingrained asset understanding on what is and isn’t viable and the importance of repair and adaption of listed Buildings.

Matt has had integral roles in a number of landmark Oxford projects including St Catherine’s and St Antony’s Oxford colleges, Howbery Park and on private residences, ensuring client needs are always met.

His strategic front-end approach enables his clients’ projects to start on the front foot. When combined with other disciplines in Bidwells it can quickly present a compelling appraisal of sites that is unmatched by competitors.

In all phases of project delivery, I have been reassured and impressed by his “can do” attitude and obvious willingness to work with the client, respecting the brief and practical imperatives.

This was a demanding brief to make the best use of a difficult triangular site. It has been a real pleasure to work collaboratively on the design with Matt and watch him negotiate all the challenges that the process threw up with imagination, tact, finesse and a healthy dose of common sense.

Fram Dinshaw, Ex Bursar, St Catherine's College, Oxford

Over what has been an extremely complex project, I have found your kind support invaluable. In terms of design, your thoughtful and sympathetic thinking has served to galvanise the colleges approach to its restoration. Drawing on your experience has help us not just consider the buildings ergonomics, design and how it would best serve our community, but equally, facilitated a direction of travel in how we engage other local authority stockholders. I would argue, this is not just an example of good “client steer”, but rather exceptional strategic thinking.
