Gordon heads up the renewable energy team and has over 20 years of professional experience in renewable energy.

Gordon has an enviable reputation in the wind farm sector, assisting landowners to obtain market leading terms for the renewable projects and, separately, work with developers in their endeavours to secure land resource.

Being a qualified chartered forester with 30 years of forestry experience has given Gordon the skills, knowledge and expertise to advise both private and public sector commercial forest owners.

Gordon’s specialism in the negotiation of land agreements is founded on a deep understanding of the energy market and how that market is developing as we move towards a low carbon energy economy.

His experience of the wind sector market, combined with his knowledge of forestry has led him to develop the accepted format for accommodating turbines within ‘commercial’ woodlands.

Advice to clients includes; general land management issues such as developing forest management prescriptions, tree crop compensation, grid wayleaving and third party access.

Recent projects include:

  • Stronelairg wind farm, Fort Augustus - managing all access through highland estate to major wind farm development, including negotiation of commercial arrangements and management of multiple land issues.
  • South West Scotland Interconnector - consultant on forest felling, restocking, Tree Crop Compensation and access terms.
  • Lewis WindPower Limited - report on current market values, negotiation of commercial terms for c.130MW proposed Lewis wind farm.
