Accounts Manager, Client Accounting Services

Gail has more than 22 years’ experience in accountancy working within corporate and educational environments before joining Bidwells.

She started her career with Bidwells as Senior Accounts Assistant in August 2015 and later became Accounts Manager in October 2017.

The accounting services team in Scotland manages over 100 clients. The client base extends to over 200,000 hectares of landed estates and commercial forestry, and includes a rent roll of over £4m and a payroll of over 100 client staff. Cumulative client cash flows per annum are in the order of £50m.

At the heart of the accounting service is our property rental and debt management system which ensures efficient handling of all property management issues and, most crucially, the successful collection of clients’ rent monies. Around this core, all the other areas of expertise combine to create a rounded accounting service, which can be tailored to the specific needs of any landed estate, commercial forestry or commercial property client.

The wealth of experience within the team ensures that clients’ VAT reclaims are maximised to their full potential. Likewise, landed estate employees can have complex payroll issues, particularly in relation to pensions, expenses and benefits. Again, the experience within the team ensures that accurate payroll returns are made to HM Revenue & Customs.

This diverse background allows Gail to have a broad knowledge of accounting, tax and audit issues which is invaluable in servicing our clients’ requirements for the timely and accurate preparation of year-end financial statements.
