Hanstead Park, also known as the former HSBC training centre, is located in St Albans district. Bidwells acted on behalf of St Congar Land and Europa Capital to manage a bespoke marketing campaign and negotiate the sale of a trophy development site for 139 dwellings in a mature parkland setting within the metropolitan green belt.
One of England’s oldest universities asked us to provide professional and agency services to help deliver an urban extension on the edge of Cambridge for thousands of new homes and research units. It wanted to showcase its standing as a world-leader in research to entice the top minds from across the globe.

Over a period of 18 years Bidwells has worked with the landowners to promote the land, find a promotion partner, gain planning permission and set up a disposal strategy.
Bidwells advised on achieving planning permission for 35 new homes applying the presumption of sustainable development in lieu of the council being able to demonstrate a five-year housing land supply.
In 2017, the promoters applied for permission to build up to 4,000 dwellings and associated development on around 217 hectares of agricultural land.
Chilmington Green is a major urban extension to Ashford, Kent, which, once completed, will accommodate up to 5,750 dwellings and associated development on a site of 250 hectares.
A consortium led large scale residential development site, in the village of Easton, to deliver up to 890 new residential dwellings with associated community benefits including new village heart to include an extended primary school, new village hall, retail store, public open space and new allotments together with associated highways works.
Whalebone Park is an undeveloped greenfield site. The trustees required Bidwells’ expertise to advise on development proposals that could release funds to the trust and charity, in addition to providing benefits for the local community. The site lies within a conservation area and requires a sensitive approach in delivery.
The land north of Hethersett is a major urban extension comprising approximately 85 hectares to the existing settlement in South Norfolk, providing 1,196 dwellings, a primary school, a local centre and new sport facilities.
Development site to provide up to 2,200 dwellings, two primary schools, two mixed-use local centres including retail and commercial floorspace and a healthcare facility. The site will also provide green infrastructure to the community including Hoggates Wood and Ash Grove.
The Frythe is a country house set in grounds extending to approximately 19.3 hectares (47 acres), just outside the village of Welwyn and about 30 miles north of central London. The site was sold by way of formal tender with the benefit of outline planning permission.
Bidwells acted on behalf of the client to negotiate a promotion agreement. The promoter achieved planning permission on the client’s land. The land was then sold and sale proceeds realised.
Bidwells was instructed to dispose of approximately 27 acres of land with the benefit of outline planning permission for up to 199 residential dwellings and a care home of up to 75 bed spaces in Melbourn, Cambridgeshire.
The Clay Farm site is located approximately 3.7 km south of Cambridge city centre.
Once completed, the development will provide up to 2,300 new homes and an extensive area of strategic open space between Hobson’s Brook and the railway line, together with provision of education facilities, sports and recreation, health and community facilities and local shopping facilities.
The site has been successfully promoted through the planning system and currently benefits from a resolution to grant planning permission for up to 2,500 dwellings, two primary school, two local centres, and over 200 acres of open space.
Bidwells successfully promoted 13 acres of greenfield land allocated for new housing in the Felixstowe Peninsula Area Action Plan and achieved planning permission for 190 dwellings. The site was subsequently sold to Barratt Eastern Counties.
