Retail scheme

A much-needed retail scheme has just been launched at Great Western Park, Didcot and will open in the Summer of next year.

The District Centre is situated at the heart of Great Western Park and will serve the large scale housing development of 3,300 homes as well as serving the adjacent Valley Park site, which has a strategic allocation of 2,550 homes.

The supermarket giant ASDA has already confirmed it will be taking an 11,000 sq ft store at the Centre which has a further 10 new retail units now available to rent.

Didcot is undergoing a huge wave of new development and expansion and other new facilities at Great Western Park include a secondary school and University Technical College, plus a primary school, public house, community centre and children’s day nursery.

The District Centre is extremely well located within Great Western Park and will form the social and retailing hub for local residents and the wider Didcot population.

Robert Beatson, Associate, Business Space Agency

“Residents started moving to the development in 2011 and we know that the local community has been eagerly awaiting the launch of these new facilities.

“From a retailing perspective, the centre will incorporate an ASDA food store and 10 retail units available for rent, and these can be used for a variety of uses such as a pharmacy, vets, bakers, hairdressers, dry cleaners, estate agents, bookmakers, restaurants/café and hot-food take-away with other uses also considered.”

The new retail units at the District Centre will be available for occupation from Summer 2017 and are available now by way of pre lease they are suitable for A1, A2, A3 and A5, but other uses could be considered subject to planning. The scheme is being developed by Henry Davidson Developments (HDDL) Didcot Ltd, a subsidiary of U+I Plc.

We are delighted to be delivering this exciting mixed-use development. Our high-quality scheme will provide shops, restaurants and a wide range of services to meet the needs of the growing population of Great Western Park and surrounds.
