Cambridge office and labs take-up well ahead of ten year average

Bidwells has released its Spring 2020 Cambridgeshire offices and laboratories research, which shows a strong year for the city, with take-up well ahead of ten year average at 0.8m sq ft - the highest total since the record highs recorded in 2014/15

Despite Brexit uncertainty, the Cambridge market proved robust throughout 2019, and saw an increased focus on Grade A space.

  • Take-up well ahead of ten year average

  • Almost three quarters of let office and lab space was grade A, as occupiers focus on quality

  • Knowledge intensive businesses accounted for majority of 2019 take-up

  • Office rents in Cambridge offices & labs sector at historic high 

  • Large floorplate requirements account for a third of demand
