Wellbeing and Community Infrastructure Study
for a new Settlement

 

Bidwells was appointed to prepare a strategy for community infrastructure provision in a new settlement, not far from Bury St Edmunds.

 What we did

 

  • Desk top research into provision for education, healthcare, open space, sport and recreation, community buildings and retail and leisure in the local area

  • Projected the population characteristics of St Edmundsbury to derive an estimate of the size and demographic of the new community

  • Using local population and accessibility standards, calculated the quantity and range of CI needed to serve residents of the new settlement

  •  Provided recommendations on the distribution of CI within the new settlement

  • Identified pathways through which health and wellbeing can be maximised within the new settlement

Result

 

  • Findings informed the master planning process

  • Demonstrated the clients’ commitment to a health and wellbeing led design process

  • Provided information to inform planning discussions and public consultation
