UEA

Productivity Test

Preparation and management of a full planning application, with listed building consent, to establish a new LEP-funded centre for engineering at UEA Campus, which will result in the establishment of a dedicated UEA School of Engineering in 2021.

What we did

  • We are in the process of managing a planning application for the UEA, to establish Productivity East, a new centre for engineering. Engineering courses at UEA currently fall within the School of Mathematics, so Productivity East seeks to provide a consolidated centre for engineering students at UEA, in tandem with the establishment of a dedicated School of Engineering in 2021

  • The site is located within the Grade II Teaching Wall, therefore we have assisted UEA in navigating the historic sensitivities of the site, to deliver a planning consent which suits the requirements of the end-users, whilst also respecting and enhancing the historic fabric of the surroundings

Result

  • We are close to securing planning permission and listed building consent

  • We have navigated complex planning issues around heritage impact, design and biodiversity, using our close working relationship with Norwich City Council to deliver a planning consent which meets UEA’s requirements
