the wigmore

langham place, london

Internal and external alterations to facilitate the refurbishment of the existing Langham Hotel spa and the creation of a new hotel bar within the former banking hall of a Grade II listed building.

 What we did

  • Advised on all aspects of heritage impact

  • Advised on the interior design aspects which would require Listed Building Consent

  • Identified opportunities for enhancement not considered

  • Identified works requiring formal consent

  • Identified elements of the works that could be considered adverse, and which would require robust justification, and elements considered beneficial to the special interest of the building

  • Worked closely with other stakeholders within the design team, ensuring the scheme had the best chance of success

  • Provided research evidence to support the proposals, notably in relation to the significant change to the internal decorative scheme

  • Identified opportunities and constraints at an early stage, allowing the design team to respond positively

  • Listed Building Consent granted

  • Bidwells worked successfully with the designers to help achieve the overall vision and design aesthetic the client wished to achieve

  • Bidwells’ attendance and successful negotiations at the initial meeting with the Westminster City Council Design and Conservation Officer ensured that the approach to the scheme was fully justified and any outstanding items were dealt with positively
