Bidwells’ heritage team, on behalf of their client, achieved the successful removal of a Grade II listed building from Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest.

What we did

  • Prepared a detailed de-listing report which included a Significance Assessment of the building

  • Created a thorough timeline of the building’s evolution and planning history

  • Robustly demonstrated that this had led to a loss of significance to the point that the building was no longer of sufficient merit to be included on the Statutory List

  • Historic England supported the application for the removal from the list stating ‘it [The Chimneys] does not possess the high levels of architectural or historic interest necessary to be recommended for listing given its late date, particularly as its design is retrospective rather than being influential or innovative’

  • The property has been removed from the Statutory List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest and is no longer a listed building, nor subject to the resulting restrictions to development
