for Caprice Holdings Ltd

Super high-end restaurant for Caprice Holdings in the heart of Mayfair.

What we did

  • Planning input for site acquisition unconditional bid submitted for site – 44 competing planning bids in total.

  • Addressed the Council’s stringent planning policies for large entertainment uses (over 500 sq m) and demonstrated that the restaurant would not result in any “substantial harm” to the amenity of surrounding neighbours.

  • Bidwells put forward a robust case for the 850 sq m restaurant comprising a 235 cover restaurant and was unanimously approved at Westminster City Council’s Planning Committee.

  • We secured a change of use to allow the refurbishment of the vacant and uninspiring former Natwest Bank in basement and ground floors of 4-6 Berkeley Square into iconic Caprice restaurant

  • Secured opening times until 02.00 Monday to Saturday and 01.00 Sundays and bank holidays on the basis of the exceptional case put forward (which included a strict management regime) for a 12 month trial run, after which time we will seek to make the hours outside of Westminster’s Core Hours permanent

  • By pushing for the use of some nontraditional materials and the incorporation of an awning fronting Berkeley Square, this has created an iconic restaurant in this part of the Square

  • Bidwells also secured consent for 18 additional covers on the highways until 22:00 Monday to Sunday and bank holidays

  • The project was successfully completed and the restaurant opened in October 2015
