Bidwells was instructed to undertake project management and environmental planning consultancy services for preparation of an EIA screening report for the demolition of Longannet Power Station.
What we did
Prepared a screening report to satisfy the requirements of Regulation 8 of the Town and Country Planning (Environmental Impact Assessment) (Scotland) Regulations 2017.
Captured proposed mitigation measures in the following plans:
• Environmental management
• Construction phase
• Traffic management
• Site waste management
• Site induction (demolition and site clearance)
Based on the nature, scale and location of the development, Fife Council considered the proposed demolition is unlikely to cause significant environmental harm or complex impacts which would require assessment through an EIA
The impacts identified in the report were considered to be adequately mitigated by the measures proposed
Our success screening out the need for an EIA minimised critical time and cost to BAM and ultimately Scottish Power’s project programme and budget
