Preparation of a Heritage Statement
for Mercure Hotel, MK

Bidwells was instructed to provide a Heritage Statement to support an application for Planning Permission for extensions to the existing Mercure Hotel Parkside to provide 23 further bedrooms.

What we did

  • Undertook an assessment of the significance of the neighbouring Grade II Star Listed Church of St Mary; the Scheduled Ancient Monument: Shrunken Medieval Village - Woughton on the Green and the Woughton on the Green Conservation Area

  • Carried out an Impact Assessment on the Church of St Edward and the Scheduled Ancient Monument to gauge whether their settings would be affected by the proposed extensions to the hotel

  • Assessed whether the proposals would harm the special character and appearance of the Woughton on the Green Conservation Area

  • Provided a Heritage Statement to support the planning application that was submitted to Milton Keynes Council

  • Planning permission granted September 2017

  • The client is delighted that permission has been granted for extensions to provide 23 further bedrooms as it will help the hotel to meet increased demand at the site
