Crest Nicholson Regeneration

The RTPI south east award winning canalside quarter is a mixed-use redevelopment in Central Milton Keynes, adjoining the Grand Union Canal. The development includes 383 new homes, a café, shop, restaurant, nursery and public house, with a pedestrian and cyclist bridge linking the two developments.

What we did

  • Secured reserved matters consent for a mixed use development on the west bank of the Grand Union Canal

  • Obtained a separate hybrid planning permission on the east bank of the canal with a new bridge joining the two sites

  • Coordinated the design team throughout the pre-application and planning application process

  • Arranged the public consultation event at the CMK shopping centre

  • Managed the political and stakeholder consultation

  • Met the client’s demanding timeframe on submission of reserved matters prior to expiry of the outline planning permission

  • Secured the required permissions to enable the client to complete the land deal with the site owners (MK Development Partnership)

  • Used our high level contacts with the Milton Keynes planning department to push the applications through the system

  • Retained the favourable affordable, housing provision from historic planning policy for the client

  • Following stakeholder consultation, the proposals enjoyed the support of the local parish and town councils

  • Development includes 383 new homes, a café, shop, restaurant, nursery and public house, with a pedestrian and cyclist bridge linking the two developments

  • A new marina on the east side of the canal and a lay-by marina for events on the west side

  • Development includes the start to the new Bedford to Milton Keynes Waterway Park
