Bidwells worked as one team and dealt with all aspects of this project, from the vision/strategy stage through to completion and occupation.
What we did
-
We identified and created a vibrant mixed-use development in Beaconsfield Old Town to reinvigorate a particular part of the town that had become run down and dated. The overall site comprised seven ownerships, mostly unknown to the client
-
We developed the vision with the client which comprised a central restaurant hub - based on the front Georgian façade of a Listed building, but with the more modern extensions to the rear demolished and redeveloped. This was to be surrounded by a mews-type ‘off street’ development comprising retail, offices and residential conversions and new build to a very high architectural standard
-
All of this enhanced the aesthetics of the conservation area. We also facilitated the funding of the entire project
Result
-
Purchased seven different ownerships without any development ransom
-
Obtained planning consent for demolition of Listed Victorian extensions to the rear of the Georgian high street façades
-
Obtained planning for the large mixed-use redevelopment
-
Created a high-quality design of the renovation of the Georgian buildings, modern links to Georgian Stables at the rear, replacement of 1970s offices and residential with a 150-cover restaurant, further retail at ground floor and flats above
-
The total development comprised 15,000 sq. ft of restaurant/retail space and 6,000 sq. ft of offices and five flats
-
The development gave a vital new life to the high street and a major benefit in terms of increasing the clients’ other property rentals and values in the area
