Bidwells Urban Design Studio have developed an urban design strategy for this proposed residential infill, forming part of the new north-eastern boundary to the village of Witham St Hughs, Lincolnshire.
Consideration of key views from the surrounding Public Rights of Way have informed the built form, with properties arranged to create a positive frontage, with native hedgerow and trees proposed to provide glimpsed views of the proposed dwellings.
Proximity issues between the nine proposed detached and semi-detached dwellings have been mitigated through the addition of tree’ d corridors abutting existing property boundaries, referencing existing strands of woodland which run through the wider area. A publicly accessible open space will provide benefit to the wider community.
What we did
- We provided urban design services in support of an outline application, including the preparation of a Design and Access statement, expanding on the intent of the master planning work.
- The scheme was granted outline planning consent during May 2017.
