The Urban Design Studio has produced landscape architectural proposals for the 12.15ha site, on the southern edge of Aylesbury for Redrow Homes.
The team was responsible for the development of a textural, seasonal planting scheme to complement the proposed 135 dwellings, developing a high quality, cohesive streetscape scheme.
The design incorporates natural, semi-natural and urban green space, with integrated flood attenuation, including permanent attenuation ponds and seasonally inundated meadows. Differing character areas have been created, with a Village Green with Children’s Play Area, an orchard with flowering amenity lawn to encourage pollinators and a natural parkland, which takes advantage of existing mature hedges to mitigate views to new dwellings
What we did
- UDS prepared a Public Artwork Brief and specification to guide the required public art contribution, and contribute to the appropriate siting and tone of the artwork.
- An Amenity Land Design Brief was prepared to demonstrate how the landscape proposals support the strategic principles set out in Aylesbury Vale District Council’s Green Infrastructure Strategy.
- Delivered landscape design services through RIBA stages 2-5, including the discharge of reserved matters.
Result
- Currently under construction, with all planning conditions discharged.
