Heritage Impact Assessment
Tidbury Green Farmhouse, Solihull

FOr brunning & price LTD

Heritage design advice and Impact Assessment in support of a contentious conversion of a Grade II listed farmhouse to restaurant and bar use.

What we did

  • Undertook an assessment of the existing farm group, comprising four separately listed buildings

  • Worked with the client’s design team to evolve an acceptable method and design for a large extension and adaptation of the existing buildings

  • Provided a detailed repair and restoration schedule to accompany the planning submission

  • Produced a full Heritage Statement, including a Heritage Impact Assessment to clearly articulate the levels of impact arising but also the heritage benefits

  • Overcome objections from the LPA Conservation Officer and Historic

  • England to receive permission at Planning Committee in December 2019

  • Provided valuable design advice and heritage support for a proposal that need to clearly demonstrate low level of impact and higher levels of heritage benefit

Result

  • Achieved planning permission and listed building consent for conversion to a restaurant bar

  • Provided specialist design and heritage advice to address concerns of officers, Historic England and Committee members to overcome objections

  •  The client was delighted with the outcome and the specialist input that we provided to deliver this result. The client liked our readiness to be involved and our complete knowledge of how to tackle the objections

  • Our input provided the client with a positive outcome, which enables them to deliver a high value operation, and reduced the economic risk of their commitment to this site
