Preparation of Heritage Statement to accompany a pre-application enquiry and subsequent planning application for a single-storey, rear extension to provide a new dining area for the public house within an existing courtyard.

What we did

  • Preparation of Significance Assessments to understand the heritage value of the Fox and Pheasant (which is recognised as an undesignated ‘Positive’ building) and the Billings Conservation Area.

  • Preparation of Impact Assessment that considers whether there will be any impacts to the heritage assets as a result of the proposed scheme.

  • Design advice to mitigate potential impacts on the heritage assets.

  • Planning application was granted December 2017

  • The pub was previously owned by Greene King and struggled to generate business due to the location of the premises. It relied on its proximity to Chelsea Football Club with the pub’s main income coming from football fans on match days. Greene King decided to dispose of the pub after Chelsea announced the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge and its closure for an extended period.

  • Preservation pub’s character and 1930s interior.
