Bidwells has been working with Trinity College, Cambridge since the inception of Cambridge Science Park, the first and most successful European Science Park.

Bidwells offers a whole range of services that have ensured the successful evolution of the park over its 50 years.

The park currently stands at 1.84 million sq ft, with plans to expand to 2 million sq ft over the coming five years, increasing employment from 6,000 to 8,000 people

 

What we did

  • Actively manage Cambridge Science Park to be the number 1 destination for R&D businesses, not just in Cambridge but the whole of Europe

  • We have provided a full suite of services including asset management, planning, project management, funding, letting, development consultancy and strategic review

  • We established a planning strategy to densify the park and deliver a significant uplift in floorspace, whilst addressing landscape and transport challenges

  • We have been overseeing site-wide strategies to present a vision for the park

  • We have actively managed the park to be the Number One destination for R&D businesses across Europe

  • We look after all current tenants, and proactively drive development  

  • Current build space will increase from 1.84m to over 2m sq ft over the next five years, increasing employment from 6,000 to 8,000 people

  • Proactively drive new development to attract the best occupiers and move forward rental growth

  • Manage the day to day matters with tenants and also encourage them to stay and grow


Result

  • We secured a favourable planning policy to support growth and achieved planning permission for new buildings and major extensions to provide 28,000 sq m of floorspace in the last three years

  • The park is currently 100% let

  • Rents are up 20% since 2014

  • The park has seen major growth from existing companies and inward investment

  • We have delivered a development that is recognised as at the forefront of science and technology.
