Bidwells secured planning permission for the residential redevelopment of a former adult community learning centre in the Green Belt. The scheme is for 60 bed Independent Living home and 14 private residential dwellings.
As part of the H B Allen Centre project , this award-winning development is currently the largest student accommodation project in the UK. The former Acland hospital site was converted into 255 student rooms, offers 2,500 sq m of high-end research space in the basement, as well as world-class conferencing facilities.
Bidwells undertook the dual roles of architect/ lead designer, contract administrator and principal designer whilst managing a team of M&E and structural engineers to design and deliver the CATA refurbishment and new entrance extension of a 1990’s build to create circa 24,000 sq ft of modern, fit for purpose CATA open plan office space.
Bidwells was instructed to undertake a building condition survey of a range of traditional buildings in Hertfordshire of former agricultural use to provide advice and
recommendations of necessary repairs in order to put the buildings into repair.
Bidwells project managed the delivery of Quad One, a new-build 37,673 sq ft three storey office and laboratory building; the first of four buildings set around a new quadrangle at Harwell Campus, Oxfordshire.
Preparation of Heritage Statement to accompany a pre-application enquiry and subsequent planning application for a single-storey, rear extension to provide a new dining area for the public house within an existing courtyard.
