790 NEW HOMES IN GREAT DUNMOW 
FOR BDW HOMES

Bidwells secured Outline Planning Permission for up to 790 new homes, primary school, community buildings, open space and associated infrastructure and is taking forward a Reserved Matters phase of 326 dwellings for the same client.

What we did

  • Secured developer partner on behalf of landowner to fund the site’s promotion through the Local Plan process

  • Undertook extensive visioning of the intended development to demonstrate a sustainable and environmentally sound scheme

  • Coordinated multi-disciplinary project team, including Environmental Impact Assessment (Bidwells’ EIA team), through the planning process

  • Secured a committee resolution for the grant of planning permission in the context of a 5-year housing land supply deficit and draft Local Plan allocation in the face of strategic alternatives

  • Advised the client throughout the Section 106 process

  • Taking forward Reserved Matters phases for the same client


Result

  • The development provides a significant source of new housing for Uttlesford District as part of its 5-year housing land supply

  • The scheme provides the town of Great Dunmow with a new neighbourhood and associated community services

  • The scheme feeds this major client’s strategic development land pipeline
