Bidwells provided strategic planning advice to Lucy Cavendish College on their new campus accommodation and facilities, which has been named as the winning project in the national ‘Excellence in Planning for Communities (small schemes of 50 or less)’ category.
The RTPI National Awards for Planning Excellence is given to outstanding planners, plans and projects across the UK.
The new accommodation block forms a sustainable new heart for Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge, providing student rooms and social spaces to help provide higher education for the wider community. This accolade confirms the project’s position as the best small scheme in the country this year.
This project faced a number of complex challenges which were addressed head on to deliver the project on time. Judges noted that the project is an exemplar template for how to plan for diversity and inclusion.
Guy Kaddish, Head of Cambridge Planning and Bidwells’ lead on the Lucy Cavendish accommodation project, said:

This year’s winners were announced at the national awards ceremony on Tuesday 21 November 2023 at The Fountain Room, London.
This national award follows Bidwells’ regional recognition at the RTPI East of England Awards, where the accommodation block also won "Best Project”.
