      The Sultan Nazrin Shah Centre

      Client
      Worcester College

      Location
      Oxford

      Size
      846 sq m

A stunning, modern building for one of Oxford's most historic colleges. The Sultan Nazrin Shah Centre provides students with state-of-the-art music facilities, teaching space and a dance studio in a superb setting.

The client required a 21st century teaching and working space, enhancing the existing facilities within its beautiful grounds. A generous grant from a benefactor (and alumni of the college) enabled the client to select a celebrated architect to design the building. As project manager, we worked closely with each party to deliver the scheme on time to celebrate the college’s 300th anniversary.

The high-quality design required expert craftsmanship, and we procured specialist stonemasons and carpenters to ensure the result was delivered to exceptionally high standards.

Due to college’s location in the centre of Oxford, and the limits of the space, the building was constructed around a flood plain and protected areas of the campus. To incorporate the natural surroundings and enhance the landscape, the existing lake was extended and integrated into the building’s design.

An award-winning and celebrated building, The Sultan Nazrin Shah Centre provides students and staff with a beautiful auditorium, seminar rooms, and a dance studio that will be used and enjoyed for years to come.
