The Glenavon beat extends over 16 miles of which only 8 miles are fished. The fishing is double bank and offers tremendous scope to the experienced angler to catch both salmon and sea trout. The beat starts about 2 miles upstream of Tomintoul, which offers a variety of accommodation for the visiting angler.The remainder, due to the importance of the beat for the production of Spring Salmon for the Spey catchment, is not fished. |

The setting of the beat allows anglers to experience the true Highlands of Scotland and see much of the native flora and fauna. It is not unusual to have to share the beat with deer, grouse, eagles, ospreys and otters. Booking is through the managing agent only. The beat is let on a weekly basis for 2 rods and single rods are not normally available. There is a strict limit to fishing hours and there is a weekly bag limit. The beat abides by the Spey Fishery Board Conservation policy for salmon and sea trout. |
