Associate, Heritage and Design

Fiona is a full member of the IHBC and has over 10 years’ experience advising on heritage matters relating to the built environment within the public and private sectors.

Fiona is an associate within the Heritage team and is based in the London office.

Fiona works predominantly in central London but has experience working in the South East and East of England. She works closely with her Heritage colleagues in the Cambridge office and provides advice across the Firm.

Fiona’s role includes assisting clients and colleagues in resolving their heritage-related development opportunities. She undertakes research into the provenance, development and planning history of historic sites and buildings, to inform and guide the design process from pre-application stage.

Fiona writes Heritage Statements to accompany planning applications which include significance assessments of the site, photographic surveys, relevant national and local heritage policy and guidance, detailed description and illustrations of the proposals and heritage impact assessments of the proposed works. She submits planning applications to Local Authorities on behalf of clients and provides support and guidance throughout the process.

Fiona is fully conversant in current legislation and the appeal process for written representations and informal hearings. She has also appeared as an expert witness in relation to an enforcement prosecution.
