Associate, Forestry

Andy is a MICF qualified forester with an in-depth knowledge of forestry having worked on a broad range of projects across Scotland and northern England.

A member of the Institute of Chartered Foresters (ICF), Andy graduated in 2009 from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in Ecology with Forestry Honours, receiving the ICF Best Student Award.

He has worked as an international commodities trader and corporate social responsibilities manager on environmental and sustainability matters in the UK and South America, as well as his current role as an associate forestry consultant with Bidwells forestry team.

He is jointly responsible for the strategic management of over 40,000 ha of forestry. Andy is involved in the planning and management of harvesting contracts, settingannual work programmes, forest restructuring and woodland creation for private and institutional clients.

His work involves the delivery of forestry advice and services to a range of windfarm developers including; assessing forestry crops for compensation value negotiations, tree surveys and production of large scale woodland habitat management plans and working with developers to discharge forestry related planning conditions.

Andy provides advice in regards to Scottish forestry policy and regulation, its interpretation and implementation in relation to the forest industry and associated activities. He contributes to the preparation and reporting of forest property valuations, and the production of marketing and sales materials for both small and large scale woodlands.
