Bidwells comes out on top for

East of England industrial league table

Bidwells is celebrating after coming out on top in the East of England Estates Gazette’s latest industrial agent league table.

The industrial agency team has scooped the top spot for leading industrial/warehouse disposals and acquisitions across the region.

The figures, which are compiled during the second half of 2016, showed that Bidwells had transacted 413,716 sq ft of space - some 55,000 sq ft more than the second placed agent.

The change in take up of industrial space for the East of England, which covers all of Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, was up 18% compared to the first six months of the year, according to the research by Estates Gazette.

Key industrial deals Bidwells acted on, include:

  • A brand new, state-of-the-art, 149,000 sq ft production facility pre-sold at Gateway Peterborough to Kingsley Beverages on behalf of Roxhill.
  • Over 85,000 sq ft of lettings/sales at Lancaster Way Business Park, Ely.
  • A 25,482 sq ft speculatively built, high-tech unit let to The Vindis Group at Cambridge Research Park.
  • A 90,752 sq ft factory sold to Mattressman on Old Stoke Road in Norwich
  • A 22,802 sq ft industrial unit let to Tyco at Gateway 11 Business Park, Wymondham

Patrick Stanton, Partner from the industrial and logistics team said.

It’s great news that we have topped this league table again. The teams have worked hard to retain the award throughout 2016, which was evidently a notable year for many reasons. Our comprehensive coverage of the area means we can provide accurate, well researched advice to our clients. We track a considerable number of requirements meaning our clients are fully aware of occupier demand and market activity.

The biggest issue facing our markets is the supply of stock, which is actually at its lowest level on record. The lack of quality space is becoming the major issue for occupiers because demand remains robust and the market seems to have been completely unaffected by the sentiment following the referendum. This is particularly true in the ‘big-box’ markets where occupiers seeking space over 100,000 sq ft now have limited options.

2017 already looks set to beat all previous records for our team with some significant deals already secured or under offer. We have already exchanged contracts on a 66,000 sq ft pre-let in Bury St Edmunds and have 430,000 sq ft and 180,000 sq ft under offer in Peterborough and Cambridge respectively.
