Bidwells leads the way for Mont Blanc ‘Agri’ Ascent

Update: Richard Warburton and his team have now completed this challenge, after an exhausting few days. The amount raise for charity is to be announced shortly.

Leading property and agribusiness consultants, Bidwells, has put together a team of five men, all of whom work within agriculture, to raise money for charity by climbing Mont Blanc.

The five, who describe themselves, as ‘middle aged, unfit and overweight blokes’ are to attempt to climb Mont Blanc during the first week of July 2010.

The team is: Richard Warburton - Bidwells Agribusiness, Andrew Crossley - Trumpington Farm Company, Paul Foster - UAP, Jonathan Bland - Manor Farm Feeds and Alastair Pawsey - North Hertfordshire Farmers.

“Mont Blanc is not Everest but at an elevation of 4,810m it is the highest mountain in Western Europe,” says Richard Warbuton of Bidwells.“ Given that none of the team have any technical mountaineering experience it will be a significant challenge!” he adds.

All monies raised will benefit two very worthy charities: The Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) and The MacMillan Cancer Support (Addenbrookes).

This year RABI celebrates its 150th year of helping farmers, farm workers and their families in times of need.

The Macmillan Cancer Support is a national Charity that provides support for people living with cancer, not only for the cancer sufferer but their families too. They also fund and provide specially trained MacMillan cancer nurses nationwide.

“We are all very excited, and perhaps fearful, of this adventure. We would be hugely grateful for any support we can get and should anyone like to support us please contact Mandy Seymore” says Richard.
