Coastal Access Debate
In association with Cambridge University Land Society & Knights Solicitors
"Free access to its undeveloped coastline should be the birthright of an island race" so said Natural England at the beginning of 2007 together with a recommendation that the government legislate to create a coastal access corridor around the whole of the undeveloped English coast.
Bidwells Land & Business, in conjunction with the Cambridge University Land Society's and Knights Solicitors held a Costal Access Debate in Portcullis House, Westminster to discuss the issues.
The speakers included Dr Helen Phillips, Chief Executive of Natural England, Karen Jones, Chief Legal Advisor to the CLA, Kate Ashbrook, Chairman of the Ramblers Association, and Jim Paice MP, Shadow Minister for Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
The debate was very well attended with clients, fellow professionals and representatives from non-governmental organisations. Four speeches from the speakers were followed by a very lively debate and the evening was well received to by everyone who attended. To find out more please download the Summary of the Debate.
