University of East Anglia

Enterprise Centre

Prepared a Vision and Development Document to guide the development of a very sensitive site in the curtilage of a Listed Building and adjacent to historic parklands and to seek to overcome previous local objections to the area’s development.

What we did

  • Prepared and submitted a hybrid planning application for a highly innovative development project on land the University owns, on the edge of Earlham Park, Norwich.

  • Managed the Discharge of Conditions process.

Result

  • Detailed planning permission for the Enterprise Centre building and outline permission for an additional building(s) for business research and education use.

  • An exemplar low carbon sustainable building constructed to Passivhaus Standard. The first building on a University Campus in Europe to achieve this.

  • The building was officially opened in 2015 and has been shortlisted for the RTPI Excellence in Planning Awards 2016 and BREEAM Awards 2016.

  • It has also won the Guardian Sustainable Business Award 2016.

Awarded the British Council Offices 'Best of the Best' and 'Corporate Workplace' Awards 2016.
