Bidwells Urban Design Studio has undertaken a conceptual master planning study on behalf of the Barking, Havering and Redbridge (University Hospitals) NHS Trust, to examine the capacity of the 10.68ha site, which is surplus to NHS needs.
The site is tightly constrained, currently located within the Green Belt but recommended for release, the site is located adjacent to the Little Heath Conservation Area, with a portion of the ‘Hargreaves Scout Camp, Seven Kings Water and Goodmayes Hospital Site of Importance for Nature Conservation (SINC) falling within its boundary. Located immediately adjacent to the King George Hospital, the team developed two conceptual options to deliver between 120 and 187 dwellings, taking advantage of the sites location within the Crossrail Corridor Investment and Growth Area.
What we did
- A conceptual master plan study has been prepared in support of representations to, and examination of, the Redbridge Local Plan 2015-2030 to illustrate how the surplus portions of the site could support residential development, improving the provision of family housing within the borough.
- We worked within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team, including Bidwells’ Chelmsford Planning Team.
- The Redbridge Local Plan 2015-2030 is currently under examination, with inspector’s feedback expected at the end of Summer 2017.
