The Harwell Campus is the largest science campus in the UK (710 acres) and is the only location in the world with a collection of large scale scientific research equipment, making it a campus of national significance.
It is home to over 250 public, academic and private sector organisations including STFC, ESA, RAL Space, Diamond Light Source, Medical Research Council, Element Six and is home to the UK’s largest space cluster (60+ organisations).
What we did
Act as business space agents on the campus, involving guidance on the form of new buildings, fielding enquiries, scouting for occupiers in target sectors, and negotiating property transactions
Involved with the science community on a daily basis and have an in-depth understanding of this complex market which is important to Oxfordshire’s economic growth
The campus has over 1m sq ft of new development master planned, with Phase I (c. 400,000 sq ft) under construction to deliver new R&D, laboratories, light engineering and office buildings.
Instructed on the project management for new construction on the campus and ad hoc building consultancy work. Bidwells also perform a Treasury function.
In view of our involvement with Harwell, we have been invited to join groups (for example led by Oxfordshire LEP or UKTI) interested in the growth of Oxfordshire’s ‘knowledge’ economy, sitting alongside the universities and other stakeholders.
Bidwells are intrinsically involved with the success of the Harwell Campus, from the form of new development to delivering completed buildings.
We have a detailed understanding of the science & technology sector in Oxfordshire and its relationship with research, manufacturing and professional services.
